An extremely rare Poul Volther folding dining table designed in 1956 and exhibited at the Cabinet Maker’s Exhibition in 1969.
Made with the highest quality teak, it has a beautiful glowing amber colour and striking grain, finished of with solid brass hinges. Ingenius design in its day, the table can be folded and put against a wall to make a great breakfast table or side table, great for those small spaces.
Poul M. Volther (1923-2001) belonged to a generation of architects with solid roots in the very best of craft. As an exponent to functionalism he was against fads and aesthetic smartness and he loved the simple manufacture of fine materials. Poul M. Volther was a trained cabinet-maker and later he graduated from The School of Arts and Crafts.
As a teacher at The Danish School of Art and Design he has influenced hundreds of young designers� sense of craft quality.
