DESCRIPTION
A Bauhaus table lamp by the Bauhaus teacher Christian Dell. Executed in black lacquered steel and chrome, this example is the much sought after luxury model from Dell`s famous Kaiser Idell range and sometimes known as the President lamp.

A vintage Model 6631 Luxus lamp, designed for the Kaiser company in the 1930s.

As the master in charge of the metalwork department at the Staatliches Bauhaus in Weimar, Christian Dell (1893-1974) worked in close collaboration with other modernist luminaries such as Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Marianne Brandt, Hin Bredendieck and Hans Przyrembel. Although also a silversmith and jeweller he is now best known as functionalist innovator and a key figure in the development of industrial lighting. His significance in the story of twentieth century design is becoming increasingly recognised by museums worldwide.

Stamped Kaiser Idell Original to the shade.

Size: About 43cm (17 inches) in height. The shade`s diameter is about 30cm (12 inches).

There is expected minor wear to the chrome and lacquer coating in places but certainly no splits or other significant damages to the metal. It is in working order.
